ITALY SERIES 4

Italy Series 4would be the final series that Corinthian would release in partnership with Giochi Preziosi, however Giochi would release 2 more series on their own.​

Series 4 was a fantastic way to bow out, consisting of 22 figures, one of which is up there as one of the rarest MicroStars ever released!​

We have 16 figures from Serie A, 2 from Barcelona and then one each from Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal. David Villa was released in the colours of Barcelona, and this would be the only MicroStars figure released of the player. Fernando Torres was released for Liverpool, he had been released as a MicroStars 3 times before, however this was an all new sculpt and would only be released as part of Italy Series 4.

Napoli striking duo of Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi made their MicroStars debut, both are incredible sculpts and this would be their only release as a Corinthian figure. Another stand out figure from this series is Dutchman Wesley Sneijder, a great sculpt and would not be released again by Corinthian, the same was true for Marco Borriello for Roma, his one and only Corinthian release is as part of Italy Series 4.

The figures were released in single secret sachets, the same style as the ones used in Italy Series 3. Each sachet contained one randomly packed MicroStars figure, which could be on one of the seven base colours, which are Green, Red, Blue, White, Silver, Gold and Black

 

 

The figures also came issued with a Fanbuk, like those in Series 3 it contained a profile on the player, explained the base ratings and also detailed the full range of figures to collect, with it being opened to reveal  a poster of the player.​

So we come to the infamous Luca Toni in Juventus kit, which is regarded as one of the rarest and most sought after figures in the entire MicroStars collection. Italy Series 4 was released in February, so was well into production by the time Toni moved from Genoa to Juventus, during the January transfer window.

It was too late to pull the Genoa figure from the range, however inside each Toni in Genoa kit was a card which advertised the Juventus version. You needed to contact Giocho Preziosi and ask to be sent the Toni in Juventus kit as a free gift, with distribution being limited to one per household.

​

 

The Toni in Juventus kit were sent to collector's in a clear sachet, also coming with a Juventus Fanbuk, with him only being releaed on a Green base with the MC code being the same as the Genoa version. It is believed that just 1500 were made and it took only a few months to exhaust all the stock Thank you to Riccardo Spignesi for providing the release informatio.
