UK SERIES 10

Corinthian MicroStars UK Series 10 marked a fundamental change to the product, it was no longer sold in a Powerpodz hollow chocolate shell, something was iconic and a large contributory factor in the products success, certainly early on.

 

 

The immensely popular Powerpodz was replaced by small chocolate footballs wrapped in foil, called Footballz. The main reason for this change was to try keep the price of the product affordable, a single pack in series 9 with a Powerpodz was £1.49, however a single pack with Footballz in series 10 was just £1.19, with a 3 player pack being £1 cheaper with Footballz than with a Powerpodz.​

Collector's did lament the loss of the Powerpodz, however the figures remained the high quality they had always been, while the cheaper price points meant you could get more for your money.

So that is the confectionary element explained, let's get onto the figure shall we. MicroStars UK Series 10 was released in Mid October 2004 and was made up of 48 different figures to collect, spread across 3 capsule colours and 3 different packaging formats.

There were 32 in their respective club home kit, which were found in Blue capsules. The Yellow capsules contained 8figures in their club away kit, while a Silver capsule had inside it one of the 8 figures in international home kit.

The single player pack contained a Blue capsule which had inside one of the 32 club home kit figures, or possibly a Gold capsule which would have any of the 48 on a Gold base. Also included were 5 chocolate Footballz, with the pack being sold in the usual retailers, priced at just £1.19

The 2 Player pack contained a Blue or Gold capsule and also either a Silver or Yellow capsule, with 5 chocolate Footballz being included, and being sold in stores for £2.19

The 3 Player pack contained a Blue or Gold capsule, a Silver or Yellow capsule and a guaranteed Gold capsule which would contain one of the 48 figures on a Gold base. * chocolate Footballz were included and was sold in stores for £2.99 and also available via Corinthian Direct from the 18th October 2004 onwards.

This series was also released in Japan as Miniatures Series 7, however the 8 international home kit figures were not included, they remained exclusive to UK Series 10.

The figures were sealed into a clear plastic sachet and placed inside a capsule, with all figures being release don 6 different base colours, Green, Red, Blue, White, Silver and Gold. The goal keeper figures had 4 different MC codes per base colour, with a collector's information leaflet also being found with each figure.
